历经近三年疫情的挑战，整个世界的格局面临着巨变，我们也重新站在了历史新的转折点。在这场让人始料不及的全球疫情中，我们充分认识到作为人类个体的渺小与脆弱。但挫折的来临，有时象征着一种契机。它可能借着颠覆现行秩序，把人带到更宽阔的世界去。作为新世纪青年人的重要组成部分，马大华人学子也肩负着历史的重任。回溯过往一百零七年间马大与中国的点点滴滴，我们不敢忘记先辈们的努力。我们时刻审视自己，面对人潮我们时刻告诫自己：“苟利国家生死以,岂因祸福避趋之”，亦或者独身一人时常常提醒自己：“莫见乎隐，莫显乎微，故君子慎其独也。”当从先辈的手中接过旗帜的那一刻起，我们的使命与征程随即开始———力求站在大洋彼岸为中美两国的沟通与交流贡献出自己的一份力量，“续煎春茶，同异共华。”

Having undergone approximately 3 years’ pandemic challenges, the whole world’s general layout is braving fabulous changes. Now we are again at the turning point of history. The unanticipated global pandemic has helped us fully realize that we, as human individuals, are so weak and fragile. The coming of setbacks, however, sometimes symbolizes a moment, in which the dominant order may be demolished, and a vaster world may be ushered in. We, Chinese students at University of Maryland, an important componential part of younger generation in the new century, are shouldering prominent historic responsibility. Looking back to the past 107 years’ dribs and drabs (odds and ends), how dare we forget our forefathers’ efforts? We, in face of sea of faces, should always examine ourselves and keep telling ourselves: “In line with the conviction that I will do whatever it takes to serve our country even at the cost of our lives, regardless of fortune or misfortune to ourselves”, or “As a superior man, one should be cautious when he is concealed and should feel dread and revered even though he stays where he is heard by nobody else.” From the moment we took the flag from the forefathers on, our mission and journey began — working very hard, on the other side of the Pacific Ocean, to make contribution to the Sino-US communication and interchange. “Let us join our efforts to continue to create something mellow and share it with different people.”

近年来，随着国际形势的变化，马大与中国的交流与合作几度中断，先辈们一百多年来所付出的努力面临着功亏一篑的结局。马里兰大学在中美关系中的地位由世界之巅变得聊胜于无，这是中美两国的巨大损失，同时也是许多其他受益于与会国丰富经验和知识的国家的巨大损失。早在1955年4月18日周恩来总理兼外长率领中国代表团出席万隆会议时就提出并坚持“求同存异”的方针，在全球化的今天，中美两国更应当顺历史趋势，让两国思想互相渗透，延展，迸发出美的焰火。如今我们作为当代马大华人学子，我们应顺遂千百年来所依循的道路，成为下一位在千山夜雨中拧亮玻璃吊盏的人。今天我们立足于马大，放眼于世界，马大与中国的关系是中美两国的缩影，回忆与历史长明，让我们期待世界各国嘉宾与参会人员共客马大，不啻微芒，造炬成阳。

With the change of international situation, the communication between University of Maryland and China almost ceased in recent years and the efforts made by the forefathers are faced with just one step short of success. The status of University of Maryland in the Sino-US interrelation has almost become unimportant, which results in a huge loss to China and the US, two giants all over the world, and which is also a huge loss to many other participants which get benefits in experience and knowledge from these two countries. As early as April 18, 1955, when Enlai, Zhou, the then Primier Minister and Foreign Minister, headed a Chinese delegation to participate in Bandung Chang International Conference, he proposed and upheld the orientation of “putting aside minor differences so as to seek common ground”. Today, in time of globalization, China and the US should follow the trend, trying to let the infiltration, elongation and outburst of the two nations’ thoughts take place. Being contemporary Chinese students at the University of Maryland, we should become men who are going to ignite the light in the night rain among mountains by stepping on the footprints which have been followed for thousands of years. Today we should be established in the University of Maryland, looking at the world. The relationship of the University of Maryland to China is the epitome of both China and the US, whose remembrance and history shine all the time. Those honored guests and participants from all corners of the world are expected, when visiting the University of Maryland, to be like lights, making torches into a sun.  

马里兰中美峰会（Maryland China Summit）是美国马里兰大学中国学生学者联合会与乔治城大学中国学生学者联谊会联合主办的集嘉宾研讨、跨校社交、青年交流于一体的年度盛会。2022 年马大中美峰会将于12月3日至4日举办，主题为 “续煎春茶，同异共华”。我们将从以下五个大方面讨论中美未来的合作与发展: 国际关系、经济与金融、科技、青年和多元化。届时各个行业翘楚将与您共同开启对促中美合作的探索。我们将邀请中美优秀学生代表、社会知名企业家、现任及过往政府官员、著名学者以及杰出行业领军人物共聚马大，我们面对面共同探寻中美合作新路线，为中美关系发展在寻找一条新路线。

Jointly held by the University of Maryland and Chinese Students and Scholars Association as well as Georgetown University Students and Scholars Association, Maryland-China Summit is to be held on December 3~4, 2022, which is an annual grand gathering where distinguished guests’ discussion, cross-university social intercourse and youth communication are to take place, with a theme of “joining efforts to continue to create something mellow and share it with different people”. The following five major aspects are to be discussed: relationships between countries; economy and finance; science and technology; youth and Diversity. At that time, leaders of all walks of life will join the discussion about how to promote the cooperation between China and the US. Outstanding student representatives of China and the US, social renowned entrepreneurs, current- and ex-officials of government, well-known scholars, and excellent industry leaders are to be invited to have a face-to-face discussion at the University of Maryland of exploring into and finding a new route resulting in the cooperation and development between China and the US.
